How to Plan a Reusable Glove Size Range for Distributors and Contract Cleaners

A B2B guide to planning a reusable glove size range for distributors and contract cleaners, from wearer data and pack marking to samples, replenishment and repeat-order control.

Different reusable glove types for range planning

Product overview

A glove range succeeds when end users can find a usable fit and purchasing teams can replenish it without confusion. For distributors and contract-cleaning buyers, size planning is more than listing S, M, L and XL on an RFQ. It links wearer needs, material choice, pack marking, inventory control and the approved product reference.

Begin with the people and the work

Start with the wearer group, not a generic size chart. Review the types of tasks, the expected wear duration and whether the glove will be used for dishwashing, routine cleaning, housekeeping, food-processing support or light industrial work. Hand size distribution can vary across customer groups and markets, so a familiar size mix from one program should not automatically be copied into another.

Ask supervisors, distributors or trial users where the current range creates issues. A glove that is too tight can be difficult to put on and may reduce comfort. A glove that is too loose can affect control during wet work or tasks requiring dexterity. The goal is not a universal fit; it is a practical range that allows the intended users to work comfortably within the approved application.

Match the size plan to the glove specification

Size cannot be separated from material, length, lining, thickness and cuff design. A flocked latex household glove, a reusable nitrile household glove and a PVC option may feel different even when the printed size is the same. Confirm the manufacturer's size marking, measurement method and tolerances for the selected model before artwork or packaging is finalized.

Request a size run that represents the intended production configuration. Review palm width, finger length, cuff fit and ease of donning with representative users. Where a range includes long-cuff or industrial models, assess the glove with the sleeves and movement pattern used in the actual routine.

Build a channel-ready assortment

A distributor needs a size range that can be counted, stored and replenished. Define which sizes are held as standard stock, which may be made to order and how the pack identifies each size. For a retail or e-commerce program, the size label should be easy to read before purchase. For a contract-cleaning customer, inner packs and issue points should allow supervisors to distribute the correct size quickly.

Use expected demand, trial feedback and reorder history to plan the mix. The largest available size range is not always the most efficient. A clear core assortment, supported by documented options for special requests, often makes inventory and communication easier for both the buyer and supplier.

Confirm packing and artwork details

Size information should appear consistently on the glove, pair pack, inner box and master carton where applicable. Confirm the artwork version, barcode assignment, label language and carton marking with the supplier before production. If a distributor uses its own item codes, connect them to the exact product model and size so repeat orders do not accidentally combine different specifications.

Keep an approved sample, final artwork and packing instruction together in the purchase record. This creates a controlled reference for later orders, new warehouses or additional markets.

Use a trial before a full rollout

A short field trial can reveal issues that a desk review misses. Ask representative users to comment on fit, comfort, cuff coverage, grip and ease of removal during normal work. Record the feedback by size and task, then decide whether the assortment or model needs adjustment before scaling up.

A practical reusable glove size range is a sourcing decision, not only a packaging decision. Define the users, test the selected model, make size marking clear and document the approved configuration. RSG Gloves can support an OEM discussion covering material, size range, packaging and application details for your target market.
